Salem Motor Speedway has been providing exciting racing action for fans since 1947. Action on the half-mile, high-banked oval include stock, midget and sprint races. The track has hosted many of the best-known names in racing. It is one mile west of Salem on State Road 56.

With the addition of extended runway distance the airport project will provide, it is felt more and more will fly-in, especially those who depend on light to medium size corporate aircraft to transport them coast-to-coast, both for business as well as adventure. 

Many of today's prominent race drivers rely on this type of transportation to meet the demands of their busy schedules.  Quicker, and more convenient accessibility in-and-out of Salem's Municipal Airport will afford them greater opportunity to compete more often in one of the world's fastest racing programs.
