Patricia E. Persinger assumed
responsibilities of the office of Clerk-Treasurer on May 2, 2002. She was
appointed by a Democrat Caucus of four people to fill
the position vacated by the former Clerk-Treasurer, Judy
K.
Chastain, who became inaugurated as the City of Salem's
Mayor. Following
that, Patricia was elected to officially serve as Clerk-Treasurer
of the
City of Salem
on
November 4, 2003. In November 2007. She was again
re-elected to serve an additional term as Salem's Clerk-Treasurer
beginning January 1, 2008.
An experienced professional in City
Government Management, on June 14, 2007, Patricia was conferred
the title
of Indiana Accredited
Municipal Clerk by the Indiana League of Municipal Clerk and
Treasurers (IAMC). Along with other professional credentials
including an Associate Degree in Business Management, Patricia
relies heavily on her personal skills and her knowledge
and understanding of the community to assure
the
running of an efficient and friendly office.
Her watchful eye has helped the City of Salem
steer through the reassessment without having to borrow
money from outside sources. Among her many financial responsibilities,
she directs all accounts payable processes to assure prompt
disbursement of monies and oversees the deposits of all
incoming funds to the City.
