Boy Scout Troop #26 Clean Up Project at Lake Salinda
Boy Scout Troop 26 recently spent a Saturday morning cleaning up trash at Lake Salinda. The troop received a donation for their efforts.

Troop members are James, Caleb and Jonathan Donoho and Sean Coats. Troop leaders are Brent Donoho and Tom Coats.
Tom said he fishes with Brent Miller, who is a member of the catfish club, and he informed him of the clean up opportunity.

Mayor David Bower said the idea for local organizations receiving money for clean up came from fees that organizations have to pay to have a fishing tournament at city lakes. Instead of the $25 permit fee going directly to the city, it goes to the organization that volunteers for clean up.

He said a lot of out-of-county people use the lakes and don’t have to pay a fee for upkeep of the lakes, like taxpayers do. The $25 fee helps cover these costs and benefits a local organization as well.
