WHEREAS, the YMCA has strengthened communities for 175 years through programs that support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility; and WHEREAS, the Washington County Family YMCA has served the residents of Washington County for 25 years, providing opportunities for youth and families to learn, grow, and thrive through childcare, youth sports, health initiatives, and community programs; and
WHEREAS, the Washington County Family YMCA brings people together across generations and backgrounds, creating a welcoming place where all individuals and families can connect, belong, and build a stronger community; and
WHEREAS, 2026 marks both the YMCA's 175th anniversary of service nationwide and the 25th anniversary of the Washington County Family YMCA's lasting impact in our community;
NOW THEREFORE, I, Justin Green, Mayor of Salem, do hereby proclaim the week of May 11-17, 2026, as YMCA 175th Anniversary Week in Salem, and encourage all residents to recognize and celebrate the YMCA's positive impact and 25 years of service in Washington County.
